A single bathroom rebuilt in place typically runs 3 to 5 weeks from demolition to final walkthrough. A larger bathroom with relocated plumbing or a new wet room generally runs 6 to 8 weeks. Here is what happens in each phase, and which decisions keep the schedule on track.
Estimate and scope
The project starts at your home. We walk the bathroom with you, talk through how you use it, confirm what the plumbing and structure will allow, and define the scope. You receive an itemized proposal so you can see where every part of the budget goes.
Design and selections
Layout, tile, vanity, stone, fixtures, and glass are chosen before construction is scheduled. Locking selections early is the single biggest factor in keeping a bathroom on schedule, because a late change can mean reordering material after the walls are already open.
Ordering and lead times
Custom vanities, stone tops, and specialty tile can carry lead times, so they are ordered as soon as selections are final. Your written schedule accounts for those lead times before demolition begins, and you approve it before the first trade arrives.
Demolition and protection
The work zone is sealed and the access route protected before demolition. Old tile, fixtures, and finishes come out down to the framing, which is also when any hidden water damage or framing issues come to light and get addressed.
Rough plumbing, electrical, and inspections
Drains, supply lines, valves, and electrical are set for the new layout. Plumbing and electrical work in most DFW cities requires a permit, with inspections before the walls close. Inspection dates are built into the schedule from the start.
Waterproofing and tile
Every tile shower is wrapped in waterproofing membranes with the pan graded to the drain. Tile follows, and on a full bathroom it is usually the longest single phase. Large-format tile and detailed mosaics each take time to set correctly, and that care is visible for decades.
Vanity, stone, and fixtures
The vanity is installed, the stone top is templated and set, and sinks, faucets, lighting, and accessories go in. Ventilation and lighting are finished at this stage so the room works the way it was designed.
Glass and final walkthrough
Frameless shower glass is measured after the tile is set and installed near the end. The project closes with a room-by-room walkthrough at your side, and any item on the punch list is completed before the job is signed off.
What can extend the schedule
Four things extend a bathroom schedule more than anything else: selections changed after ordering, special-order items with long lead times, hidden damage found during demolition, and inspection availability. The first two are controlled by finalizing choices early. The last two are planned for in the schedule so they do not stall the job.
Living at home during the remodel
Most owners stay in the home during a bathroom remodel and use another bathroom in the meantime. The work zone is sealed with dust barriers, the access route is protected, and the site is cleaned at the end of each workday.
Larger bathrooms and wet rooms
A larger bathroom with a relocated shower, a freestanding tub, or a wet room adds plumbing changes, more tile, and sometimes structural work, which is why those projects generally run 6 to 8 weeks. Your schedule reflects the actual scope, with dated milestones you approve before demolition begins.
